A usefull tool
Hello everybody
I'm sure most of you are aware of that tool, but I find it really usefull.
Its a file comparer, for my part I use compare suite
But there is many other on the net.

So here is the way I use this.
I start a game in BR for example, and then I toggle the debugger, and dump the memory in a file using that line.
Dump StartA.dasm 0000 ffff

then let the game run on itself without scoring any point and then I dump the memory in a second file.
Dump StartB.dasm 0000 ffff

step 2.
we can do it for a third and fourth file to be sure
then I compare the 2 files with the comparer.
All the memory that has change, we can asssume that they are related to a routine in the program. (light show, music , display.) So we must ignore those memory adress in the folowing step

tep. 3.
The I score some point or hit switch that I'm interested in.
and then I dumped the memory in a file.

I then compare it with one of the 2 file that I have done as a base (without any scoring) and then note the adress that has change, But I ignore the adress noted in the step2.

I can see in the folowing image that

In the image above, the scoring was 1500 and 500 at the right

RE: A usefull tool
WinMerge is good and free. - and can compare whole directories of files.
Or use "Diff" - it's command line and free too.
